How to Enable Crossplay on a Valheim Server

The Crossplay feature in Valheim lets players from different platforms (Steam PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC Game Pass) play together on the same server.

This guide explains how to enable crossplay on a Valheim server on the Raznar panel and how to join using a PlayFab join code.

When Should Crossplay Be Enabled?​

  • Enable Crossplay: If any member of your server plays on an Xbox console or the PC Game Pass app.
  • Disable Crossplay: If all players on your server use Steam PC. Disabling crossplay makes the server run with a direct connection (direct IP), which tends to be more stable and have lower latency.

Step 1: Enable Crossplay on the Raznar Panel​

  1. Open your browser and log in to the Raznar panel.
  2. Go to the Console menu, then click Stop to shut down the server first.
  3. Open the Startup menu on the Raznar panel.
  4. Find the variable or option named CROSSPLAY (or the additional arguments field):
    • Change the CROSSPLAY variable value to 1 (or add the -crossplay argument in the server extra parameters field).
  5. Go back to the Console menu, then click Start.

Step 2: View the Join Code (6-Digit Join Code)​

When crossplay is enabled, the PlayFab system automatically creates a join code (Join Code) that makes it easy for console players to join without typing the server IP address and Port:

  1. Watch the log lines in the Console menu while the server is booting.
  2. Wait a moment until a log line containing the session code appears: 
    Session "YourServerName" with join code 123456 and IP ... is active
  3. Note the 6-digit Join Code (for example: 123456).

The PlayFab system provides a new Join Code every time the server restarts. Make sure you check the Console for the latest code after the server is started again.

Step 3: How Players Join Using the Join Code​

Players on Xbox or PC can join with the following practical steps:

  1. Open the Valheim game on the console or PC.
  2. Select your character, then click the Start Game > Join Game menu.
  3. Click the Join Code button at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Enter the 6-digit code you got from the server Console.
  5. Enter your server password, then press the confirmation button to enter the game world.
