How to Install Mods on a Palworld Server

This guide explains how to install and enable mods on a Palworld server through the Raznar panel.

Important Things Before You Start

Before installing mods, keep the following in mind:

  • Windows Servers Only: The built-in mod feature currently only runs on the Windows version of the Palworld server.
  • Server-Compatible Mods Required: Only mods that support servers can be used. Make sure the mod's Info.json file contains the line "IsServer": true. Mods made only for player PCs will not run on the server.
  • Allow Player Mods: If any player uses mods on their PC, make sure bAllowClientMod=True is enabled so they are not rejected when joining the server.
  • Always Make a Backup: Back up your server data through the Backups menu in Raznar before trying a new mod.

Step 1: Upload the Mod Files to the Server

The Palworld server reads mods from the Mods/Workshop/ folder:

  1. Open the Raznar panel, select your server, then open the Files menu.
  2. Open the Mods folder, then open the Workshop folder (create a new folder named Workshop if it does not exist yet).
  3. Upload your mod folder into Mods/Workshop/.

The folder structure should look like this:

PalServer.exe
Mods/
├── PalModSettings.ini
└── Workshop/
└── <ModFolderName>/
└── Info.json
Folder Note

You can name the mod folder however you like. The important thing is that the Info.json file sits directly inside that folder.

Step 2: Enable the Mod in PalModSettings.ini

The PalModSettings.ini file appears automatically after the server has been started at least once.

  1. In the Files menu, open the Mods folder.
  2. Click the PalModSettings.ini file to edit it.
  3. Add your mod below the [PalModSettings] line:
[PalModSettings]
bGlobalEnableMod=true
ActiveModList=ModPackageName1
ActiveModList=ModPackageName2

Settings Explanation:

  • bGlobalEnableMod=true: Turns on the mod system on the server.
  • ActiveModList=: Enter the PackageName value written in the mod's Info.json file (not the folder name). Add a new ActiveModList line for each additional mod.

Step 3: Save and Restart the Server

  1. Click the Save File button at the bottom of the editor.
  2. Open the Console menu, then click Restart.
  3. When the server starts again, it will automatically install and load the mod files into the correct location.

How to Update and Remove Mods

  • Update a Mod: If a new version is available, simply replace the contents of the mod folder in Mods/Workshop/ and restart the server. The server will update the mod automatically.
  • Disable a Specific Mod: Remove that mod's ActiveModList line in PalModSettings.ini, then restart the server.
  • Remove a Mod Completely: Delete the mod folder from Mods/Workshop/, remove its line in PalModSettings.ini, then restart the server.
  • Disable All Mods at Once: Change bGlobalEnableMod=false in PalModSettings.ini, then restart the server.

Common Troubleshooting

1. The Mod Does Not Work on the Server

  • Check the Info.json file: Open the mod's Info.json. Make sure it contains the line "IsServer": true. If it only contains "IsClient": true, the mod is for local players and cannot run on a server.
  • Check for required mods: Some mods require other mods (such as UE4SS) to work. Make sure the required mods are installed.
  • Check the PackageName: Make sure the name you typed in ActiveModList matches the one in Info.json exactly (mind the uppercase and lowercase letters).

2. Players Cannot Join the Server

If players using mods on their PC fail to join the server, open the Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/PalWorldSettings.ini file and make sure the following setting is set to True:

bAllowClientMod=True
