How to Move a Co-op Save to a Palworld Server

This guide explains how to move a save game from PC co-op to a Palworld server on Raznar, including how to fix the host character resetting to level 1.

Why Is This Tool Needed?

When playing co-op on PC, the host character uses the default ID 00000000000000000000000000000001.sav. When the save is moved to a dedicated server, the server generates a new ID, so the host character is treated as a new player and asked to create a character from level 1 again.

With the palworld-host-save-fix tool, the old host character data (level, Pals, bases, and inventory) is transferred to that new ID.

Note

Friends who previously joined your co-op will not lose their characters. This fix only needs to be applied to the Host character.

Step 1: Things to Do in the Old Co-op Save

Before moving the save files from your PC:

  1. Leave the Guild: If the host character is the guild leader, hand the leadership over to a friend first, then remove the host character from the guild (to avoid guild bugs after the move).
  2. Dismantle the Pal Viewing Cage: If you built a Viewing Cage at your base, dismantle it first because this feature is not yet stable on dedicated servers.
  3. Back Up the Save Folder:
    • Press Windows + R, then type:
      %LocalAppData%\Pal\Saved\SaveGames
    • Open the folder with your SteamID number, then copy the 32-character save folder (for example 2E85FD38BAA74EAB91F61EF7B970ECF1) somewhere else as a backup.

Step 2: Upload the Save to the Raznar Server

  1. Open the Raznar panel, go to the Console menu, then click Stop.
  2. Open the Files menu, then open the folder:
    Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/
  3. Upload the 32-character save folder from your PC into that 0/ folder.
  4. Open the folder:
    Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/
  5. Open the GameUserSettings.ini file, then change the DedicatedServerName line to match your save folder name:
    DedicatedServerName=2E85FD38BAA74EAB91F61EF7B970ECF1
    Click Save File.
  6. Go back to your save folder (Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/<SaveFolderName>/), then delete the WorldOption.sav file so the server uses the settings from PalWorldSettings.ini.

Step 3: Get the Host Character's New ID

  1. Open the Console menu in Raznar, then click Start.
  2. Launch Palworld on your PC, then join your server.
  3. When the new character creation menu appears, create any character, enter the game for a moment, then exit the game.
  4. Return to the Raznar panel and click Stop.
  5. Open the Files menu, then go to the folder:
    Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/<SaveFolderName>/Players/
  6. Find the most recently created .sav file. That file name is the host's New ID (for example 6E80B1A6000000000000000000000000.sav). Note the code without the .sav extension.
  7. Download your save folder (Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/<SaveFolderName>/) to your PC for repair.

Step 4: Run the Repair Tool on Your PC

  1. Make sure Python 3 is installed on your PC (during installation, remember to check the Add Python to PATH option).
  2. Open Command Prompt (CMD), then install the save reader tool with the following command:
    pip install palworld-save-tools==0.17.1
  3. Download the palworld-host-save-fix tool (click the Code button > Download ZIP, then extract it).
  4. Open the extracted folder, open CMD in that folder, then run:
    python gui.py
  5. In the window that opens:
    • Click Browse, then select the save folder you downloaded from the server.
    • Under the new character option (new character), select the host's new ID.
    • Under the old character option (old character), select 00000000000000000000000000000001.
    • Check the guild repair option, then click the button to start processing.
    • Read the warning in the CMD window, then press Enter until it finishes.

Step 5: Upload It Back to the Server

  1. Open the Files menu in the Raznar panel, then open the Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/ folder.
  2. Upload the repaired save folder again to overwrite the old files on the server.
  3. Open the Console menu, then click Start.
  4. Join the server using the host account. Your old character, level, Pals, base, and inventory should now be back to normal.

Additional Troubleshooting

  • Base Pals stand idle or refuse to work: Take the Pal into your character's party, drop it on the ground with the Drop button, then pick it up again. This re-registers the Pal to your base.
  • Cannot hold left click to attack: Leave the Guild in-game, then ask your friend to invite you back into that Guild.
